Bicycle Assembler

This individual should be organized, mechanically inclined, and dedicated to completing assignments and projects to meet the high standards of quality at Wheels in Motion.

Primary job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Un-boxes bicycles and inspects for shipping damage
  • Assemble new road, mountain, hybrid and children’s bikes according to established Wheels in Motion assembly standards
  • Inspects/tests assembled bicycle, places bicycle into inventory, and updates records according to Wheels in Motion processes
  • Assemble trailers, tag-a-longs, and other accessory products
  • Learn, understand and adhere to company policy, programs and standards
  • Assisting with flat repairs and other quick repairs as needed
  • Back up Service Writers as needed

After an initial training period, you will coordinate with the store and service managers to determine your schedule.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has some experience repairing and tuning bicycles
  • Is neat and organized, and is respectful of a shared work space
  • Is capable of safely lifting and carrying 40lbs on a regular basis
  • Is self-motivated, able to work both independently and as a member of a team, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

 

Service Writer

This individual should be organized, mechanically inclined, able to assess incoming repair needs, dedicated to completing assignments and projects to meet the high standards of quality at Wheels in Motion.

Primary job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Interacting and provide great customer service with customers on the phone and in person
  • Interact with customers; provide customers with answers regarding basic maintenance and service accessories
  • Write work orders based on on-the-spot analysis; recommends maintenance beyond the initial customer request as appropriate, focusing on long-term bicycle safety and performance, and provide customers with accurate cost estimates
  • Inspecting and assessing frame and components for damage or replacement
  • Communicating with customers regarding timing of work order completion and/or modifications to quote based upon inspection
  • Complete all scheduled work orders, from minor repairs to complete overhauls and builds, within the promised turnaround time
  • Perform minor repairs on the spot whenever possible
  • Completing a la carte services per service menu including but not limited to: cable and housing replacement, adjust/repair derailleur’s, adjust/repair brakes, replace/repair shifters, replace chain, cassette, bar tape/grips, wheel true and dish, wheel builds, overhaul suspension, drive-train cleaning, disc brake and dropper post service
  • Ability to perform all repairs from minor repairs to full tune-ups based on experience and qualifications (if required)
  • Assemble new bikes as required
  • Perform other tasks assigned by store and service managers
  • Learn, understand and adhere to company policy, programs and standards
  • Maintain an organized, clean work area
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the service manager

The Service Writer position is a full-time position; you will work up to 40 hours per week depending on the season, and you should have the ability to work evenings and weekends.  During peak seasons additional hours may be required.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has at least 2 years of mechanical or tech experience working on bicycles
  • Is neat and organized, and is respectful of a shared work space
  • Has experience in a retail or customer service environment
  • Has a keen eye for detail and bicycle diagnostics
  • Is intrinsically motivated, able to work both independently and as a member of a team, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

 

Production Mechanic

This individual should be organized, mechanically inclined, and dedicated to completing assignments and projects to meet the high standards of quality at Wheels in Motion.

Primary job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Completing work order tickets from the work order queue in POS in a timely manner.
  • Completing service shop packages from basic to overhauls.
  • Completing a la carte services per service menu including but not limited to: cable and housing replacement, adjust/repair derailleur’s, adjust/repair brakes, replace/repair shifters, replace chain, cassette, bar tape/grips, wheel true and dish, wheel builds, overhaul suspension, drive-train cleaning, disc brake and dropper post service
  • Inspecting and assessing frame and components for damage or replacement
  • Communicating with customers regarding timing of work order completion and/or modifications to quote based upon inspection
  • Completing on the spot repairs as needed.
  • Interacting and provide great customer service with customers on the phone and in person
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management
  • Write work orders based on on-the-spot analysis; recommends maintenance beyond the initial customer request as appropriate, focusing on long-term bicycle safety and performance, and provide customers with accurate cost estimates (the Production Mechanic may focus more on technical work than on customer interactions depending on staffing levels and service order volume)
  • Complete all scheduled work orders, from minor repairs to complete overhauls and builds, within the promised turnaround time
  • Perform minor repairs on the spot whenever possible
  • Maintain an organized, clean work area
  • Coaches and advises other technicians on mechanical and procedural concepts
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the service manager
  • Learn, understand and adhere to company policy, programs and standards

As a Production Mechanic, you will coordinate with the store and service managers to determine your schedule based on the needs of the service department. In season, the Production Mechanic may be expected to work more than 40 hours per week, while in the off-season this individual may take on the role of a service writer or assembler.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has at least 3+ years of successful mechanical or tech experience working on bicycles
  • Demonstrates continued professional development, and demonstrates expertise in one or multiple specialized technical areas (road, tri/TT, suspension/hydraulics, recumbent, etc.)
  • Is neat and organized, and is respectful of a shared work space
  • Is capable of safely lifting and carrying 40lbs on a regular basis
  • Is able to manage their time effectively and work under pressure
  • Is self-motivated, able to work both independently and as a member of a team, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

 

Sales Associate

This individual is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge and to ensure that every person that enters our store feels welcome and enjoys their ride.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :

  1. SALES EXCELLENCE:
  • Sell the fun of cycling to every person that walks through the door
  • Following the company’s Selling Process and uphold the vision, mission and values of Wheels in Motion in the process
  • Work the in-store events and annual off-site events (Worst Day of the Year Ride, etc.)
  • Achieve minimum sales-per-hour expectations
  1. CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENCE:
  • Provide consistently great customer service
  • Connect with customers on a personal level
  • If you cannot make a customer smile, you are too boring to work at Wheels in Motion.
  • Make customers feel welcome by making sure the store is clean daily before end of the shift
  1. INVENTORY EXCELLENCE
  • Understanding that inventory is extremely valuable and should be treated as cash
  • Follow proper computer systems procedures
  • Participate in physical inventory and cycle counts on a regular basis
  • Maintain merchandising standards

As a Sales Associate at Wheels in Motion, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty with satisfactory approval of the store manager and team members.

The ideal candidate:

  • Education and/or Experience: Has at least three months of bicycle or outdoor retail experience
  • Technological Skills: Has ability to read and comprehend instruction via email and online training modules. Technological capability to learn and navigate our point of sale system, Ascend.
  • Communication Skills: Has confidence and ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers and other team members. Ability to empathize and authentically connect with customers on a regular basis.
  • Reasoning Ability: Comprehension to apply common sense understanding and problem solving skills to carry out instructions even in a fast paced, and busy environment.

Precision Fit Specialist

Must be enthusiastic, able to think critically, and be a great problem solver. Must be an organized individual with the ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Will need to be able to collaborate with the customer to reach one common fit goal. Provide a memorable positive fitting experience for each customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Must check fit calendar every morning and plan day around fits
  • Must be able to schedule fits and communicate with customers.
  • Must keep up to date with fitting techniques and evolving market.
  • Will keep all tools and equipment in great condition.
  • Clean work area at the end of every work day.
  • Will conduct fitting interviews, followed by off bike then on bike evaluations.
  • Will project excellence.

  • Opening to learning an being trained on the Precision Fit fitting system
  • Pleasant to talk to while maintaining a professional attitude.

Assistant Sales Manager

This individual is responsible for creating an engaged, positive, and memorable sales experience. Answering emails, phones, and checking for online orders. Must have a deep knowledge of the products we carry while having a functional understanding of how the product works. Must have the ability to think critically.

  • Every morning must consult the task sheet and complete any duties allocated for that day.
  • Must maintain a clean work environment.
  • Must maintain an approachable, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must embody excellent customer service with the staff.

  • Motivate the sales staff to achieve monthly goals.
  • Assist sales manager in making sales schedule.
  • Must be at the shop ready to work at designated time.

This individual is responsible for aiding in the oversight of all aspects of the repair shop operations as well the productivity of the mechanics and the quality of the repairs. Assists in creating and fostering an engaged, positive, and memorable service experience.. Must have a deep knowledge of bicycle service and the running of the service area. Must have the ability to think critically.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Assist other mechanics with repairs
  • Helps to manage inventory including min/max levels
  • Motivates service staff
  • Participates in training service staff through hands-on and digital training (Trek-U, S-Tech, etc.)
  • Audit repairs and processes to hold the service staff accountable
  • Monitor and maintain mechanic’s efficiency, maintain mechanic productivity rate
  • Delegate jobs and responsibilities to mechanics  
  • Ensure customer service standards are being met
  • Perform mechanic duties when required
  • Each morning must consult the repairs due for that day and delegate those repairs so that they are completed when due
  • Must maintain/delegate a clean work environment.
  • Must maintain an approachable, enthusiastic attitude.

This individual is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the repair shop operations as well the productivity of the mechanics and the quality of the repairs. Works to create and foster an engaged, positive, and memorable service experience.. Must have a deep knowledge of bicycle service and the running of the service area. Must have the ability to think critically.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Assist other mechanics with repairs
  • Creates the mechanic’s schedule
  • Oversee inventory including min/max levels
  • Motivating service staff
  • Set tangible goals for service staff
  • Train service staff through hands-on and digital training (Trek-U, S-Tech, etc.)
